Educational Activities and Courses

In order to provide as much information to our guests about the educational benefits of our activities and programmes, our activity pages all provide specific details of how the activity can be used to support the curriculum.  A summary of this information can be found on our Curriculum Information Page.

In addition to this we also provide a number of courses which run throughout the year aimed at developing the awareness and skills of young people.

Courses include:

First Gear

First Gear is UK Youth's Vehicle Education programmes focusing on driving and the responsibilities of car use and ownership. It aims to encourage young people aged between 14 and 17 to develop positive attitudes towards the responsibilities inherent in the safe use of motor vehicles.

Youth Achievement Awards

The Youth Achievement Awards are a peer education approach to recognising and accrediting young people's achievements.  They are designed to encourage young people to take a more active role in the youth work activities that interest them.

Junior Achievement Awards

The Junior Achievement Awards are the newest branch of the Youth Achievement Awards and open up these awards to young people aged 7 - 11.  The Junior achievement Award is made up of 5 x 3hour activity slots, so can easily be included as part of your Avon Tyrrell residential, as all activities both on and off site can count towards the award.

D of E

Avon Tyrrell is currently working towards becoming a registered centre for D of E, please keep checking our site for more information.

Paddle Power

Paddle Power is the BCU entry level Canoeing and Kayaking Award, these courses can be run on site for individuals as part of our holiday play schemes, or run specifically if you have a group of like minded friends or colleagues.

We also run a number of Princes Trust week 2 residentials, inset and training days and run a number of longer courses and programmes including NEET and Pre NEET courses.

For more information on any of the above courses please click on the headings, or to find out how these courses could be tailored specifically to suit your needs please contact us.

Please click here if you would like to view our learning objectives matrix outlining the team's, individual's and social learning in all our activities.
