Plane Crash

Bushcraft and woodland survival activities are an excellent foundation to help people understand social skills, team and personal development, in addition to wider environmental issues.

This specially designed team building day is based around the scenario of a plane crash.  The session starts with the group being met by their facilitators, blindfolded and given the initial brief that they are in a plane experiencing engine problems.  The group is then split into smaller teams and led off to a ‘crash site’ in our woodlands.  Having reached their crash site the teams are provided with the information that they have crashed and their aims for the session must be to create a situation in which they can survive for an unspecified length of time and to achieve rescue.

The first half of the session is spent creating a camp, to meet the group’s immediate survival needs.  Depending on the time available this could include; fire lighting (including friction fire lighting), shelter creation, Kelly kettles and cooking their lunch over an open fire.

The second part of the session is spent trying to achieve rescue.  Within their equipment will be hidden a map and part of a mobile phone.  In order to get rescued a phone call must be made to ‘headquarters.’ It will be up to the individual teams to decide whether to work with the other teams (putting their mobile phone parts together) or alternatively they may decide to go off on their own and stitch up the other teams by stealing their mobile phone parts.

This team building day is great fun and will provide a range of reviewing points that can be taken away with you.

Session Time – Session can be fitted to suit the group’s needs, but are based on half or full day sessions.

Group Size – 10 to 36 participants
