We are looking for a friendly, motivated cook with experience in a commercial kitchen, who loves creating home-cooked meals and memorable experiences for young people.

At Avon Tyrrell, UK Youth’s flagship outdoor learning centre, every day is an opportunity to make a real difference to young people. As part of our small, friendly, and dedicated catering team, you will play a vital role in shaping a positive environment for thousands of young people each year, helping to create healthy, tasty meals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook a variety of dishes in line with established recipes and menu specifications.
• Ensure all food is prepared safely and in accordance with food hygiene regulations.
• Supervise and guide kitchen staff during meal preparation, providing support as required.
• Maintain a clean, organised kitchen and ensure all equipment is cleaned and stored properly.
• Deliver excellent customer service, interacting professionally and courteously with guests.

A healthy work–life balance, please note:

• Some weekend working is required.
• Some split shifts are required.
• Evening shifts typically finish no later than 7:30pm.
• We have a two-week closure period over Christmas, giving you guaranteed time off during the festive break.
• Annual leave as standard is 35 days per annum (includes bank holidays)
• All working hours recorded, meaning fairness, transparency, and time back when you work additional hours.

What we’re looking for:

• Proven experience ideally in a similar role or setting.
• Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, food preparation, and awareness of allergens.
• A valid catering qualification and up-to-date food hygiene certificate.
• Excellent customer care, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Understanding and empathy towards the needs of young people.

Additional Requirements:

• Two satisfactory references.
• Enhanced DBS check.
• Proof of the right to work in the UK.

Job Type: Full-time
