An opportunity to explore Avon Tyrrell during dusk or darkness and discover the nocturnal creatures that live here. It is a great time to see new things, listen to stories connected with the house and test your night vision with some of our night tricks. You will be amazed what there is to see.
Spring/Summer: The wildlife is more abundant during the Spring/Summer months. Use our bat detectors and listen to their echolocation as you search for some of the many species that roost here at Avon Tyrrell. You can also look out for tawny owls that nest within the grounds.
Miid-Summer Days are at their longest and during these sessions, you’ll discover some of Avon Tyrrell’s secrets as well as be on the look-out for all the wildlife that comes out at dusk. We’ll often end the session by seeing if we can glimpse any of the ‘early’ rising bats down by the lake as well as using interactive games to provide information about how our animals cope in the dark.
Winter: Winter sessions take place in full darkness which allows you to really develop night vision and get fantastic results from our light tricks. You’ll discover some of Avon Tyrrell’s hidden secrets and explore the usually hidden world of Avon Tyrrell in total blackout. We may also get to see some constellations high up in the sky.
