Outdoor Instructor (Full Time Permanent/Seasonal)

As a leading outdoor learning venue, the UK Youth Outdoor Centre at Avon Tyrrell is dedicated to the continuous development of young people. Situated in The New Forest National Park on the beautiful South Coast we are looking for an experienced, passionate and enthusiastic outdoor instructor  to join our team.

Avon Tyrrell is a fantastic place to work with a great staff team and is dedicated to providing opportunities and unlocking potential in young people through inclusive Outdoor Learning. 

Working in an enjoyable, busy atmosphere you will be required to deliver high quality activity programmes to a diverse range of groups including; schools, youth groups (including Prince’s Trust and NCS), corporate groups and individuals with additional support needs.

You must share the ethos of learning and development through the promotion of outdoor experiences for all visitors and have previous outdoor centre experience and qualifications.

Salary: £17,500 per annum

Hours: Full Time (42.5 hrs a week)

Desirable Qualifications

A minimum of two from the following qualifications

  • UKCC BCU L1 or above
  • SPA or CWA Assessed 
  • ERCA High Ropes Instructor
  • MIAS, Archery GB, ML or equivalent


You should have the ability to build and maintain relationships and rapport with staff and guests, demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to inspire others, as well as a self-motivated proactive approach.

Avon Tyrrell Outdoor Activity Centre provides outdoor learning opportunities and adventure activities to 22000 people each year.  We are open 7 days a week and are fully operational 50 weeks of the year, so evening and weekend work will be required.
